Abel Vaughn- Valencia, MS

Abel (he/him) is a Resident in Counseling and works with adults and adolescents with a range of mental health issues and life challenges. Abel has a passion for working with individuals struggling with depression and grief, trauma and PSTD, anxiety/panic, emotion regulation, self-esteem and identity issues, and challenges in relationships or with others. Abel provides a therapeutic environment using a range of counseling interventions primarily based in Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, as well as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and various mindfulness and trauma-informed techniques. Abel enjoys working with clients of all backgrounds, and he provides an affirming and safe space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and an additional focus in men’s mental health.

Abel completed his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Oklahoma and clinical internship at an agency specializing in trauma, sexual and physical abuse, and family violence.
