Background:
Katelyn (she/her) is a Supervisee in Social Work who completed her clinical internship with RCC during the summer of 2021.
Katelyn combines person-centered and trauma-informed approaches with a focus on mindfulness, supportive reflection, and holistic self-care. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and expressive arts/play therapy techniques based on each person’s diverse needs and goals. Her focus is creating a compassionate and collaborative space for reflection and growth, while supporting others as experts on their own life experiences.
Katelyn currently works with adults, adolescents, and children experiencing a variety of concerns related to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, ADHD management, work/life balance, communication patterns, and boundary setting. In addition, Katelyn enjoys working with children to help them learn how to identify and express difficult emotions, as well as develop coping and calming skills.
Prior to receiving her Master's degree, Katelyn’s practice experience included providing direct behavioral and mental health services to children and adolescents in a variety of settings including community-based programs, preschools, K-12 schools, and the foster care system. She plans on building upon this experience while continuing to explore her passions in the areas of equitable Early Childhood Education, LGBTQIA+ affirming practice, and the impact of trauma on the lifespan. Katelyn is practicing under the licensure supervision of RCC's Kimberly Hines, LCSW, RPT-S.
If Katelyn isn’t spending her free time with her cat, Waffles, she also enjoys paddle boarding, journaling, and restoring preloved furniture.
