Background:

Pamela Seward received her Bachelors in Psychology and Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and then pursued her LCSW. She has over 11 years of experience in the field of mental health. Her experiences range from working within multiple settings including inpatient, outpatient, schools, and the community. She uses a person centered and trauma informed lens with interventions of CBT, mindfulness, IFS, play, sand tray, mindfulness, narrative story, family systems, DBT, and a variety of creative expressive interventions. Pam works to provide a warm, empathetic, affirming, and safe therapeutic presence as a clinician. Pam has more specialized training and a passion for working with survivors of childhood trauma, domestic violence, neglect, and with foster and adoptive individuals and families. Her work may focus on strengthening the quality of attachment between a child and caregiver while supporting survivors on their healing journey. She also has experience with autism spectrum disorders, substance use disorders, self-harming behaviors, suicidality and crises, personality disorders, depression, emotional and behavioral issues, anxiety, divorce, and a variety of other diagnoses or psychosocial stressors. Pam has worked as a direct clinician, clinical supervisor, and as clinical manager during her career thus far. She has also provided ADOS2- autism assessments as well as substance use assessments and group therapy. She is also a member of the Richmond Trauma Informed Community Network. Pam enjoys reading about neuroscience, helping others, taking her dog on various adventures, traveling to the beach, meditating, and spending time with family and friends.
