Background:

SK (they/she) is a Supervisee in Social Work dedicated to working with individuals, couples, and families. Prior to becoming a Social Worker, SK spent many years working with children, adults, and families in varied settings, including school systems, community nonprofits, clinical practices, and within the criminal-legal system. SK celebrates people with diverse gender and sexual expressions as well as anyone exploring their identities. They welcome individual clients 6+ years old, and families or couples regardless of how they define family or relationship.

SK is committed to creating space for clients to make meaning from their life experiences and the sometimes painful and disorienting life events that everyone experiences in one way or another. SK uses a trauma-informed, social justice lens focused on the inherent strength and resilience of all people as well as the impact of the systems in which they are situated. SK guides clients in building emotional resilience, moving towards the Self they want to be and the life they desire. In their sessions, SK draws on mindfulness, psychodynamics, somatic practices, behavioral approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), play therapy and expressive arts. Whether working with children, adults, couples, or families, SK fosters an atmosphere of mutual trust and collaboration grounded in curiosity, nonjudgment, and respect.

When not at work, SK loves spending time with their cat and other beloveds, riding their bicycle, and using their hands to build and make art.
