Background:

Stephanie earned her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and holds an MBA in Global Management. She is a certified financial social worker and is a Supervisee in Social Work under the Virginia Board of Social Work, currently under the supervision of Kristin Dahland, LCSW.
Her professional background spans both mental health and the biotech industry, where she focused on access to care and disease state education. She has worked with adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations in community-based care, inpatient psychiatric units, detoxification programs, and dual-diagnosis treatment. Stephanie is passionate about supporting individuals navigating substance misuse, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, and the lasting impact of childhood sexual abuse.
Stephanie has a special interest in working with individuals in recovery, or those striving to be. Your definition of recovery is a deeply personal decision. Recovery may involve overcoming the misuse of alcohol or drugs, or it may relate to behaviors such as shopping, gambling, sex, social media, and others. If there is a maladaptive behavior that is interfering with the life you want to live, this is a safe space to explore it.
As a Certified Financial Social Worker, and experience in business and finance, Stephanie brings a unique perspective to our relationships and behaviors around money as part of our overall wellbeing. She specializes in helping individuals process the emotional complexities of finances, including power dynamics, impulse control, and the challenges of navigating actual or potential involuntary financial shifts due to the 5 D’s: death, disability, divorce, distress, and disagreement. If you feel as though your emotions are managing your finances rather than the other way around, this is a safe space to investigate those concerns. Please note that working with Stephanie would focusing on the emotional and behavioral aspects and is not investment advice.
Stephanie takes a strength-based and resilience-based approach, integrating a solution focused, motivational interventional approach including radical acceptance, as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients modify maladaptive behaviors. Stephanie without judgement helps in defining goals to build a life aligned and tailored to your values. She also offers some flexible, nontraditional hours to accommodate individuals who find prioritizing self-care difficult during the workday.
Outside of her professional life, Stephanie is a proud mother of two sons, one serving as a Senior Airman in the U.S. Air Force and the other preparing to graduate from Old Dominion University. She enjoys traveling, live music, and spending time with friends and family, especially when it involves laughter and good company.
