Background:

Whitney (they/them) is a Supervisee in Social Work with a Master’s in Clinical Social Work and a background in Latin American Studies and Visual Art. Whitney is dedicated to collective liberation and love, expressed through active decolonization and embodied anti-racism.

Whitney is committed to collaborating with you in a way that is accountable, honest, and responsive to your cultural background, all while centering your choices. As a therapist, Whitney focuses on building a trust-based relationship with you that allows you to attune to your body and emotions and express yourself authentically. They draw on your strengths to support you in integrating difficult experiences and moving toward a life that is both fulfilling and aligned with your values.

As they accompany people in processing trauma, Whitney recognizes the effect of historical, intergenerational, complex, and religious trauma, as well as single-event and ongoing trauma. Drawing from ongoing study, relationships, and lived experience as a neuroqueer person, Whitney celebrates neurodiversity and is vehemently LGBTQIA2S+ affirming. They are sex-positive and welcome working with people engaged in consensual non-monogamy, kink, and/or sex work. Whitney is expanding their skills into somatics (integrating a radical political lens), art therapy, and nature-based therapy techniques. Whitney has experience working with people affected by domestic and sexual violence, and is an abolitionist passionate about exploring non-carceral approaches to addressing harm. They have also studied mental health conditions such as bipolar, OCD, and borderline, and work to de-stigmatize these collections of symptoms while supporting people who experience them.

Outside of work, Whitney is continuing their years-long journey of learning Spanish, aiming for full fluency to eventually be able to offer therapy in Spanish. They nourish themself by strolling near plants and water, dancing (regardless of skill), participating in community-building events, savoring music, and being silly and sweet with their friends.
